Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery Draw Postponed
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Lottery Department has officially postponed the highly anticipated Thiruvonam Bumper 2025 draw, originally scheduled for today, to October 4.
The decision comes in the wake of multiple requests from lottery agents and ticket sellers across the state, citing complications arising from the recent implementation of GST changes and the disruption caused by unseasonal heavy rainfall in several regions.
The Directorate of State Lotteries announced the revised draw date through an official press release. According to the statement, the move aims to ensure fairness and broader participation, particularly since adverse weather conditions have affected the smooth distribution and sale of lottery tickets in many areas.
“The unexpected heavy rains and the confusion surrounding the new GST regulations have significantly impacted ticket sales and distribution. We have taken this decision after careful consideration and consultations with stakeholders,” said a senior official from the Lottery Directorate.
The Thiruvonam Bumper is one of the most eagerly awaited lotteries in Kerala, drawing massive participation due to its large prize pool. The first prize for this year’s draw is ₹25 crore, making it one of the largest lottery prizes in the country.
Lottery agents had earlier approached the department with concerns about declining sales due to logistical challenges. The GST adjustments, which came into effect recently, created pricing and billing issues for sellers, further complicating the process.
With the new date set for October 4, 2025, the Directorate has also confirmed that ticket sales will continue until the day of the draw. This extension is expected to boost sales and allow more people to participate.
Public response to the postponement has been mixed, with some welcoming the decision for allowing more time to buy tickets, while others expressed disappointment at the delay.
The draw will be held at Gorky Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram, as per the usual procedure, under the supervision of lottery department officials and in compliance with all regulatory norms.
Participants and agents are advised to stay updated through the official Kerala Lottery website and authorized agents for any further announcements or changes.
